Our Carbon Positive Vision

At Sapling, there are two things essential to our ethos - high quality spirits, and love for the natural world.

In most people's imagination, these two things seem to exist as being mutually exclusive. Is saving the world not something that requires a bit more effort? Walking, instead of driving? Sorting out your recycling properly? Of course we all should do these things, but the question arises of why we can't give back to the planet while we are kicking back with our friends, doing the things we love to do.

There are many companies that are carbon neutral, or plastic free. But we wanted to give something tangible back to the environment. Being neutral didn't quite cut it for us, so we decided to go carbon positive by planting trees.

A recent study found that an average bottle of vodka uses 2.8kg of carbon before it reaches its customer. One of our trees can absorb up to 1.5 tonnes of carbon in its lifetime, making each of our bottles significantly carbon positive.

Every bottle we sell we will be planting a tree with one of our carefully selected partners. We not only plant trees and nurture them, but also seek to enhance the local area in which we plant. Have a look at the Our Trees section for more on this.

As is the Sapling way, we will also be doing pop up bars, where every drink sold will also plant a tree.
